Laptop Cleaning
Is your laptop getting extremely hot?
Freezing or shutting down on its own? Don't panic, we can help.
Almost every part of a laptop attracts dust, and not only on the outside. The dust that settles inside keeps the components hotter than they should be, and in the end that means faulty parts or a failed motherboard. On our island this happens far more often than in other EU countries, because dust blown in from Africa is a constant. Add the high humidity and the airflow inside the machine gets worse still. Pet hair and lint pulled in from blankets and pillows do the same job, clogging the fan and cutting off the cooling.
Your laptop measures the temperature of the processor, the graphics chip and other parts all the time, and it answers a rising temperature by spinning the fan faster. In many cases even that is not enough. A fan that runs fast all day is loud and it uses more power, so the noise is not the only cost, the battery runs down sooner as well. Machines with a dedicated graphics card, gaming laptops and mobile workstations, are the most sensitive to overheating, and a cooked graphics chip is an expensive repair. Sometimes it costs more than the machine is worth. A full clean and service from time to time prevents all of this, and regular maintenance can add years to the life of a computer.
What a cleaning includes. We take the machine apart and clean it from the inside. Every part that needs it is cleaned, the old thermal paste is scraped off and replaced with fresh paste, and the fan is cleaned out. If we find a damaged or worn part along the way, a fan on its way out for example, we tell you what it costs to replace before we do anything.
How long does a cleaning take?
The cleaning itself takes about one to three hours, depending on the machine and the state it is in. In most cases we can take it in and have it ready for the next day.
Do you offer an express cleaning service?
Yes. Express cleaning takes about two to four hours and costs €25 including VAT on top of the normal price.
What thermal paste do you use?
We use thermal paste of the same quality as the factory original, or better.
How much does a cleaning cost?
The price depends on the type of machine:
- Laptop: €45
- Gaming laptop: €55
- Desktop PC: €60
- Express service: €25 on top of the price above
All prices include VAT.
A cooling pad is another good way to help a laptop fight overheating. It is an accessory that sits under the machine, runs its fans off the USB port and brings the working temperature down. We keep them in stock.
